Release technical brief
How QuizScreen 1.9 Works
QuizScreen 1.9 separates free core blocking and offline quizzes from optional Premium learning features while preserving explicit app selection and timed re-blocking through Apple’s Screen Time frameworks.
App selection and shielding
QuizScreen asks the user to authorize Screen Time and select individual apps through Apple’s Family Controls picker. Apple supplies opaque app tokens; QuizScreen uses Managed Settings to shield the selected apps without receiving the content viewed inside them.
Quiz and unlock flow
- Choose a blocked app inside QuizScreen.
- Complete a short quiz using a free built-in pack or a Premium custom topic.
- Select 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day, or forever.
- For finite access, QuizScreen schedules expiration and reapplies the shield at the deadline.
Offline and Premium question sources
Version 1.9 contains more than 100 validated questions across General Knowledge, Math, English, and History. Those packs work without internet access. Premium custom topics use OpenRouter; malformed or unavailable AI output falls back to validated built-in questions.
Privacy and reliability boundaries
QuizScreen requires no account. Quiz settings, app tokens, deadlines, and progress are stored locally or in its private App Group. Premium AI, subscription, remote-configuration, and crash-diagnostic operations use the providers disclosed in the privacy policy.
Apple controls Screen Time authorization and system shields. QuizScreen cannot guarantee that blocking changes grades, attention, health, or behavior for every user.
